George Ward Park This is a great disc golf course and dogs roam free and happy for acres. There is a creek of sorts on the far end for the dogs to get a drink and take a dip.

Location: Green Springs.
Directions: Exit 258 Greensprings Ave. off I-65, east, then left on Green Springs Hwy, 0.5 mile, right at 16th Ave. (1st light), then right through the old Apts. up hill past Tennis Center, stay left to back parking lot.

Rhodes Park Large park with plenty of room for dogs to run and play; lots of friendly dogs on evenings and weekends; No fence.

Location: Highland Avenue.
Directions: HW 31 N to Highland Ave; turn right; continue on Highland until you come to Rhodes Park (2nd of three parks on Highland).

Huntsville Dog Park/ The Dog Spot

Location: Off Cleveland Ave, downtown, near the old train station and the skateboard park.
Directions: From Meridian Street go under the freeway, turn right on Cleveland; it's right there.

Black Hill Park - Germantown This park is open from 6 a.m. to dusk and has tons of shady spots and lots of "regulars" who love talking about their dogs. There's always a doggie friend there, early or late!

Downs Park - Pasadena This doggie beach on the Chesapeake Bay is open from 9 a.m. to dusk.

College Park Dog Park - College Park This park is in Acredale Park near the University of Maryland campus and is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Boston Common While not the country's most off-leash-friendly city, Boston is at least trying to make life in Beantown a bit more pleasant for pooches. A pilot program in Boston Commons allows dogs to be off-leash during designated morning hours. The area is unfenced but spacious, and it's necessary to bring poop bags and water for your baby. PARKS SENT IN BY YOU Nunziato Field Off Leash Recreation Area - Somerville Open from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.

. Somerville's first off-leash recreational area (OLRA) opened in Nunziato Field in April 2006. The OLRA is fenced-in.

Breakheart Reservation/Bark Place - Saugus This park has an enclosed area for the dogs to run around, a few benches and poop bags available with trash cans for disposal.

Sheepfold Park - Stoneham This park is open all day and offers plenty of room to run. There are picnic tables, trails, off-leash areas, pooper scoopers and water.

Stoddard - Hingham This park is open daily and is surrounded by the ocean so dogs can swim all year round. There is plenty of room to run and walk, along with tables, poop bags, water, trees and bushes, parking, and nice people. This park is shared with the public for sledding in the winter.

Callahan State Park - Framingham This great park is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tradewinds - Oak Bluffs This grass airfield on Martha's Vineyard doubles as a dog park.
